The Congress Secretariat has negotiated conference rates with the following transportation carriers. Please see below for additional information on local transporation during the Congress.

Congress 2009 Bytown Trolley Shuttle Service

FREE shuttle services are available between downtown “Congress designated” Hotels and Carleton University.

  • Daily shuttles run approximately every 15 minutes between 7:00-8:30 from the designated hotels and 16:30-18:00 from the Carleton campus.  
  • Catch the shuttle on campus at the bus stations located on Campus Avenue (near the meeting spaces) and University Drive (near the Registration Area and Book Fair). Stops are designated with Congress signage and are indicated on your campus map.  
  • Special shuttles run to downtown following the President's Receptions from 18:30- 19:30, leaving from Alumni Hall (parking lot 5).

Airport Commuter

Tickets for commuter service between the Ottawa International Airport and hotels and residences are available for purchase upon arrival at the Airport Welcome Desk located in the arrivals terminal opposite the baggage carousels. Airport transportation can also be purchased at the Bytown Trolley Shuttle Kiosk in the Registration area.

Tickets can be purchased for $12 (one way) and $20 (return). (Children are free.) Cash, debit, credit and cheques are accepted.

WestJet logo

WestJet, the official Canadian airline for the Congress, is offering an additional 15% off its best available fare and 10% for seat sale fares at the time of booking (excluding web and promotional fares) when you quote the Congress code QC #5749. To book a discounted ticket, contact the WestJet Specialty Sales Team at (888) 493-7853. You can also book via fax (800) 582-7072 or e-mail and using the booking request form.

Budget Rent a Car Logo

Budget Rent a Car is the official car rental company of Congress 2009, offering delegates preferred rates starting at $29 per day and $135 per week or 5% off the lowest rate. For phone reservations call 1 (800) 772-3773 or book online with the conference code U078637.

(Note that fare discounts are only applicable one to two days before and after the conference period)

To and From the Airport

  • Taxis
    Taxis can be found just outside of the arrivals area. The approximate fare for travel from the airport to downtown Ottawa is $25.
  • Limousines
    On demand limousine service is available directly outside the arrivals area. For more information call (613) 523-1560 or (888) 901-6222.
  • Airport Shuttle Buses
    The Airporter provides a bus service to a number of downtown hotels in Ottawa starting at $14 per adult. Tickets can be purchased in the arrivals area (ground floor). Please check the website or call (613) 260-2359 for additional rates, schedules, and list of participating hotels.
  • Public Transit
    Route 97 departs from post 14 outside level 1 of the arrivals area. Bus tickets are available at the Ground Transportation Desk located on level 1 at the centre door of the arrivals area. Route 97 uses low-floor, fully accessible buses that accommodate wheelchairs.

Fares: $1 per ticket (minimum purchase 2 tickets for adults); $7.25 Day Pass if purchased on the bus; $6.50 Day Pass if purchased at the Ground Transportation Desk.

Public Transit - OC Transpo
Carleton's main bus terminal is located beside the Minto Case building, a 2-minute walk away from the residences. The commuter O-Train runs through Carleton in a north/south direction, giving easy access to downtown buses. Check their website for detailed route, schedule and travel planning information for transit throughout the city of Ottawa.

Parking
For delegates arriving by car, limited short-term parking while registering will be available in parking lot 5, located next to the Registration area. Daily parking passes are available for $8 at the Residence Desk, Parking Services on the 1st Floor of Robertson Hall, or at the Registration area.

Limited parking is available for guests at the residence. All parking areas are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please consult the campus map for the location of the parking lots on campus.
