Sustainability Initiatives
Throughout Congress 2009, Carleton University will provide recycling stations across the campus to divert waste from the landfill. All food waste from residence dining rooms, selected retail outlets and Beer Garden will be composted. Any disposable containers and cutlery provided in dining outlets is also compostable. Papers, maps, signage and printed materials will be recycled. Many recycling containers themselves are made of recyclable materials. As a legacy, a number of trees will be planted on campus; the number will be based on the amount of recycled material collected during Congress.
